Amilinda is owned and operated by Gregory and Orry León. Gregory the executive chef can be found on the kitchen line cooking every night. Orry the front of house manager who can often be found crafting drinks behind Amilinda’s bar.
Gregory was born in Tulsa, OK, however, at the age of 5 Gregory’s father decided to move the family to his native country, Venezuela. In ’89 the family came back to the United States and Gregory began his culinary career shortly thereafter. Moving to San Francisco he spent 18 years cooking and consulting in San Francisco restaurants like Poesia, Mirtille and Horatius, with a few stints in Madrid, Spain.
Orry, born in Los Angeles, CA ventured to Wisconsin as a young lad to live with his father. In 2006 he moved to Milwaukee working his way through a BFA in Interior Design while working in the hospitality industry. After graduating he became general manager for a popular Wisconsin Furniture Store, leaving when Gregory and he decided to pursue the dream of Amilinda.
Amilinda’s interior draws inspiration from that of Spain & Portugal. From the Gaudi style wall murals and exposed brick to the Portuguese Roosters scattered throughout.
